For all the shit I say about Moffat, I think ruined is a very strong word.
However, one person’s comment on this was:
That is because you’re a conservative fuck afriad of change. Or was the storyline too “hard for you to understand”. Maybe if you paid attention you would have understood it. And I bet you went online and saw all the hate all the other people posted and thought, “hmmm, I should hate this too.”
Wow.
“Maybe if you paid attention you would have understood it”?
I did pay attention. And I still don’t believe we have a real explanation as to how / why the Silence blew up the TARDIS - which, by the way, has not been addressed since it happened. Tell me how paying attention would’ve helped me out with that one.
“Conservative fuck who’s afraid of change”? Where did that even COME from?
I’m seriously, seriously thinking about quitting tumblr. It’s so full of ignorance and hate and frankly it causes me more pain than joy sometimes.
I know I’m not perfect. I’m loud and opinionated. But jeez, what’s the matter with some people?
Seriously, I think one of the best things about Doctor Who is that it forces you to accept change. You either adjust to new Doctors and new companions, or you spend the whole time angry that it isn’t the same as it once was. Yes, I am sure there are some people who dislike the Moffat era solely because it isn’t the same as the RTD era was, but there are plenty of valid reasons to be unhappy with the direction the show has gone.
And on that subject, we haven’t seen Moffat show us that change yet, and I really want to see him write companions that aren’t Amy, Rory, or River. They are all great, but I want him to show us that he can write other great companions.

I completely agree with Noah.
I don’t hide the fact that I prefer the RTD Era. But it’s not because I hate change. I didn’t particularly love the 9th Doctor, who was created and written by the same person who invented the 10th Doctor, who is my favorite. I’m aware of the nature of this program. It’s ever-changing. I don’t dislike it changing. I dislike it changing for the worse.
And I think that’s an excellent point about SMoff not showing us change really at all. We’ve had the same three (four if you count Craig) characters for two years now.
What’s bothering me lately is that Steven Moffat doesn’t seem to understand how to juggle multiple characters. Instead of just having the Ponds stay home and maybe appear from time to time, he’s writing them out forever in Series 7 before giving us a new companion.
… Why can’t we just get a new companion and have the Ponds appear maybe twice, ala Martha in Series 4? And Jack in Series 3? Why can’t the recur instead of disappearing? (Probably dying.)

No. You know who has “ruined” Doctor Who? Short answer: the “fans”. So shut the fuck up.
